Leading up to the game with Minnesota this past week, many of the Lions talked about wanting to get the hometown crowd into the game. They expressed concern that last year, home games didn’t necessarily give the Lions an advantage. They were encouraging the fans to come and support them.
With the Lions struggling to sell out the home game and lift the blackout, I was curious to see how the fans would support the team during the game, especially if they were struggling.
After watching the game on TV, I think the fans more than held up their end of the bargain. They sounded loud and vocal. With the game on the line in the fourth quarter and OT, the defensive players could be seen trying to get the crowd to make some noise. The fans responded and the defense seemed to get some extra energy from the crowd and came up with some big stops.
